Hurricane Irma: Openings after the storm

These are businesses, schools and other organizations that are now opening after Hurricane Irma.

 

Georgia Southern University campus in Statesboro will resume on Monday, Sept. 18. Students may begin returning to their residence halls on campus after noon Friday, Sept. 15. The campus will open and normal business operations and GSU sponsored events will resume on Friday, Sept. 15. The Coastal Georgia Center will also open on Friday, Sept. 15. Herty Advanced Materials Development Center will open on Thursday, Sept. 14.

Goodwill Southeast Georgia stores and donation drop-off points and Job Connection Centers, with the exception of those in Glynn County, will resume normal hours as of Wednesday, Sept. 13. The Brunswick retail store, donation centers and Job Connection Center will reopen as soon as conditions permit. Goodwill is also a committed community partner who understands many individuals in our communities may need clothing and household items and we stand ready to assist those individuals. Goodwill Southeast Georgia shopping vouchers can be obtained through the American Red Cross of Southeast and Coastal Georgia’s disaster services.

Coast Guard re-opens Port of Savannah.

SouthCoast Health will re-open with normal business hours at all of its locations, including its urgent care services for adults and pediatrics, on Wednesday, Sept. 13. The Savannah urgent care clinic for adults will resume its normal weekday hours of 1 to 7:30 p.m. The pediatric urgent care clinics in Savannah, Richmond Hill, and Rincon will resume their normal weekday hours of 5 to 6:30 p.m. Patients who had appointments canceled due to the office closings will be contacted by the SouthCoast Health staff in order to reschedule. Patients with questions should contact their physician’s office.

YMCA of Coastal Georgia Bryan County: Richmond Hill YMCA will be open with limited hours, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 13. All group exercise classes, child watch, Mother’s Morning Out, Y Pre-School, Fun Club and Super Saturday events are cancelled until Monday, Sept. 18.

YMCA of Coastal Georgia Chatham County:

Habersham YMCA will be open with limited hours, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 13. All group exercise classes, child watch, Mother’s Morning Out, child care, Fun Club and Super Saturday events are cancelled until Monday, Sept. 18. The Child Learning Center will be closed through Thursday, Sept. 14. It will be open regular operating hours on Friday, Sept. 15. Georgia Pre-K is canceled through Monday, Sept. 18.

Islands YMCA will be open with limited hours, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 13. All group exercise classes, child watch, Mother’s Morning Out, Y Pre School, Fun Club and Super Saturday events are cancelled until Monday, Sept. 18. The Child Learning Center will be closed through Thursday, Sept. 14. It will be open regular operating hours on Friday, Sept. 15. Georgia Pre-K is canceled through Monday, Sept. 18.

Holiday Camp at The Islands YMCA, Habersham YMCA will operate from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 13 and 14. The West Chatham YMCA Holiday Camp will operate from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 15. Registration at the branch each day on a first come, first serve basis.

Tybee Island YMCA will be closed until further notice.

West Chatham YMCA will be closed on Wednesday, Sept. 13. All group exercise classes, child watch, Mother’s Morning Out, Fun Club and Super Saturday events are cancelled until Monday, Sept. 18. The Child Learning Center will be closed through Thursday, Sept. 14. It will open regular operating hours on Friday, Sept. 15. Georgia Pre-K is canceled until Monday, Sept. 18.

Pryme Tyme will be closed for all of the Savannah Chatham County Public Schools through Monday, Sept. 18.

YMCA of Coastal Georgia Effingham YMCA will be closed on Wednesday, Sept. 13. Pryme Tyme and Georgia Pre-K will be closed for all of the Effingham County Public Schools on Wednesday, September 13th.

YMCA of Coastal Georgia Glynn County: closed Wednesday, Sept. 13. The Child Learning Center and Georgia Pre-K will be closed through Monday, Sept. 18.

YMCA of Coastal Georgia Liberty County: The Liberty County/ Armed Services YMCA will be closed Wednesday, Sept. 13. All group exercise classes, child watch, Mother’s Morning Out, and Super Saturday events are cancelled until Monday, Sept. 18. Pryme Tyme will be closed on Sept. 13.

YMCA of Coastal Georgia McIntosh County: closed on Wednesday, Sept. 13.

Live Oak Public Libraries reopens branches in Chatham, Effingham, and Liberty counties at noon Wednesday, Sept. 13, with exceptions.

The Effingham YMCA will be open from noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13.

Functional Medical Needs population will be transported back into Savannah Wednesday, Sept. 13

Post-storm parking information: On street parking will be free in the City of Savannah Wednesday, Sept. 13, and regular operations will resume Thursday, Sept. 14. Residents who left a vehicle in a city garage for the storm must remove it by 5 p.m. today, Sept. 13, to avoid being charged.

While the Chatham County Health Department will be closed on Wednesday, Sept. 13, Chatham CARE Center (HIV care center) at 107 B Fahm St. will be open for services.

BankSouth’s branch at 18 W. Bryan will be open regular hours Wednesday, Sept. 13. The Stephenson Avenue bank branch will be closed Wednesday, but its mortgage office will be open regular hours.

There will be no curfew in effect tonight, Sept. 12, in Chatham County. All county offices will return to normal operations at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13.

Food distribution by Second Harvest: On Wednesday, Sept. 13, Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia’s Grace’s Kitchen will start preparing hot meals for neighbors in need. They will do this Thursday and Friday as well. For each day, they need about eight volunteers that will help in the kitchen starting at 9 a.m. and then 10 additional volunteers arriving at 11 a.m. to help distribute the meals. If you can help, call 912- 236-6750 or come by. For those in need of a hot meal, they will start distributing meals Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 11:30 a.m. at 2501 E. President St.

All three Telfair Museums sites (Jepson Center, Telfair Academy, Owens-Thomas House) will reopen at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16.

The Department of the Army has canceled the evacuation orders for soldiers, Department of Defense civilians and family members of Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield effective Sept. 12. Critical workforce personnel will return as directed by their chain of command or staff director. All evacuees whose safe haven is 400 miles or less from either base must return within 24 hours. Others have 48 hours.

The Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center maintained comprehensive inpatient and emergency services throughout Hurricane Irma and will return to full operations including Primary Care, Mental Health and Specialty outpatient clinic appointments on Wednesday, Sept. 13. The Savannah VA Outpatient Clinic will open for Veteran appointments at noon on Wednesday; staff should report at 10 a.m. The following VA outpatient community clinics will also re-open at their normal time on Wednesday: Goose Creek VA Outpatient Clinic, Myrtle Beach VA Outpatient Clinic, Hinesville VA Outpatient Clinic, and Trident VA Outpatient Clinics. Employees at those locations should report to work as scheduled. VA’s outpatient clinics in Beaufort will be closed on Wednesday. Patients whose appointment was cancelled due to clinic closures will be called to reschedule. If you cannot wait to reschedule, call the TAP line at 1-888-878-6884.

Georgia Department of Driver Services centers typically open on Wednesdays will be open Sept. 13, except for our Kingsland and Brunswick locations, which will be closed all day. Some locations may experience power and network issues causing increased customer wait times. Please use DDS online services at www.dds.ga.gov, or if you must visit in person, plan on visiting later in the week.

CVS and Walgreens on Victory Drive are open.

Sakura at 8465 Waters Ave. is open.

Open in Richmond Hill are CVS and Walgreens.

The following businesses in Pooler are open today with restaurants likely to have limited menus: Cracker Barrel, Henry’s, Waffle House, Publix, EnMarket at 80/95, Royal Cinemas, Chazitos, Front Porch, Lowe’s, Naanappetit, Colorboxx, Spanky’s, Texas Roadhouse at 4 p.m., Longhorn, Roys nutz n’ buttz, Tanger, and Bahama Bobs.

Savannah-Chatham public schools closed until Monday, Sept.

The National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force will reopen on Wednesday, Sept. 13.

Chatham County offices, courthouses and recreational sites will resume normal operations on Wednesday, Sept. 13.

The Neurological Institute of Savannah will be closed all day Tuesday, Sept. 12, and re-open on Wednesday, Sept. 13.

Wells Fargo branches in some parts of Georgia will be open today. Some branches will have a delayed opening of 10 a.m. Some branches will be closed as a result of Hurricane Irma. All branches in the Savannah, St. Simons Island and Brunswick areas will be closed today. All South Georgia branches in and around Columbus, Augusta and Macon will open on time at 9 a.m. All branches in the Metropolitan Atlanta Area and North Georgia, including Athens, Rome and Dahlonega will open today at 10 a.m.

Port Wentworth has no restrictions to coming back into the county Tuesday. Republic will begin normal collections on their regular schedule, beginning Wednesday with trash pick up.

Classes and events on Tuesday, Sept. 12, at Mercer University’s Macon, Atlanta, Savannah and Columbus campuses and at the Regional Academic Centers are canceled. Essential personnel should check with supervisors about reporting for work on Tuesday. All food service on the Macon campus will be open on Tuesday, and Tarver Library will open at 10 a.m. The University Center will open at 9 a.m. The University will resume normal schedules on Wednesday.
