GARD adoptions

Georgia Animal Rescue and Defence will have pet adoptions from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 14 at Camping World RV in Pooler and from 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 14-15 at PetSmart in Pooler. Info: gardonline.org.

Operation New Hope adoptions

Operation New Hope will hold dog adoptions from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 14 at the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office, 1050 Carl Griffin Drive.Potential adopters encouraged to bring their own dogs for a meet and greet. There will be 15 dogs from GARD for adoption.

Tabby Tales adoption event

Tabby Tales Rescue has adoptable cats from noon to 3 p.m. Oct. 14 at the Victory Drive PetSmart. Info: tabbytalesrescue.org.

Save-A-Live adoptions

One Love adoption event

Barktoberfest

10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 14. Chatham County Animal Services, 7211 Sallie Mood Drive. Helping Hands of Savannah is partnering with Chatham County Animal Services for this event. Features a pet costume contest with prizes and parade at 1 p.m. Games, entertainment, food trucks and free pet adoptions. Low-cost nail trims, microchips and vaccines. Info: facebook.com/hhosga.

Humane Society adoptions

The Humane Society for Greater Savannah, 7215 Sallie Mood Drive, is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays and Mondays. Info: humanesocietysav.org

Wag-O-Ween fundraiser

The 12th annual Wag-O-Ween will be from noon to 5 p.m. Oct. 21 starting at 602 Abercorn St. at Huntingdon. Buy a map and wristband, follow the map. Tickets: $5. Raffle. Costume contest. $5 photos. Dog lovers needed for foster program

GRRR (Georgia Rescue, Rehabilitation & Relocation) needs volunteers for our Foster Care Program. Fostering gives animals a second chance at life and allows them to receive temporary care from loving foster parents before being adopted. A rewarding experience for humans and pets in need. Cat rescue volunteers needed

Tabby Tales Rescue needs more volunteers. Lives are saved with the help of volunteer foster parents, event volunteers, caregivers for our cats residing at PetSmart and behind-the-scenes operations volunteers who help with fundraising, social media and a myriad of other tasks that keep the organization running. Sav-A-Life needs volunteers, fosters

Save-A-Life needs a volunteer to answer the information line one day a week without leaving your home. Training provided. Contact 912-598-7729 and a leave a message for Deborah. Save-A-Life is seeking short-term fosters for dogs to fill in when regular fosters have an emergency, illness, etc. There will be little advance notice. Save-A-Life also needs fosters for timid cats for one or two months to help ready them for adoption. Call 912-598-7729 and leave a message or fill out a volunteer application at savealifepets.org.

Dachshunds doxie mixes available

Dogs are available from Dachshund Rescue of North America, a nonprofit that rescues and re-homes dachshunds doxie mixes. Applications available online at drna.org. Dogs adopted from DRNA are fully vetted. Contact ellenwh@bellsouth.net or 912-398-1892.

One Love needs fosters, volunteers

Volunteers are needed by One Love Animal Rescue for day-to-day operation of our animal rescue, caring for animals as a foster in your home with all of the animal’s needs supplied by One Love, adoption follow-ups, paperwork behind the scenes, and assisting at our fundraising events. Volunteers, foster homes needed

Volunteers and foster homes needed at Chatham County Animal Services, 7211 Sallie Mood Drive. Volunteers can walk, bathe, teach and play with the animals at the shelter. Volunteers to assist with the public and for office work also needed. Orientation is required; contact Diane at 912-484-4438.
