The senior is the son of a St. Vincent’s graduate and a Palestinian immigrant. Awad is a starting tackle on the Cadet football team and a heavyweight on the BC wrestling squad. He is an “A” student and a member of the National Honor Society.
1Q. If you could sit down to dinner with three people from the past or present, whom would you choose?
A. I would have dinner with Thomas Jefferson, Jimmy Page and Pope Francis.
2Q. Is there something about you that might surprise people?
A. I’m really into politics. I’m the president of the Model United Nations Club at school, and have got honorable mention at the annual meeting the last two years. This year I want to win it all.
3Q. What’s your favorite subject in school?
A. I like AP government and history. History is so important because American democracy was such a huge concept that changed the world.
4Q. How has the experience been playing for the Cadet football?
A. (Quarterback) Nick Iannone and (lineman) Andrew Jakubsen are two of my closest friends, and playing together has strengthened our friendship. The way coach (Danny) Britt and (the late) coach (Ken) Cooper run practice is a model for how things work in the real world, so it’s been a great experience.
5Q. Is there a book that has had a big impact on you?
A. I’m a big fan of the “Game of Thrones” so I have been reading the series “A Song of Ice and Fire.” I also liked “Angela’s Ashes.” I like how the author Frank McCourt has such a positive outlook on life.
