Savannah-Chatham police are investigating a shooting at Bee Road and East 31st Street that left one man dead.
Chatham County coroner Bill Wessinger said police found the body of a “teenager, a young fellow,” in a car near the intersection. Wessinger said the body had multiple gunshot wounds.
The victim has not been identified yet, but the autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow, Wessinger said.
According to Savannah-Chatham police’s crime numbers, this is the 26th homicide in metro’s jurisdiction this year.
At this point in 2016, there were 42 homicides. Savannah saw 50 homicides in 2016, and 53 in 2015 — the two highest yearly tallies since the early 90’s.
