Dec. 13: A trailer was stolen from a yard on Old River Road in the Bloomingdale area.

Bah, humbug

Dec. 14: Christmas decorations were stolen from a house on Katie Drive in the Rincon area, including an angel statue, a Jesus statue and snowmen decorations.

Dec. 15: A deputy oversaw a woman taking custody of her children from a relative who had been caring for them for a month while their father was in prison. Lazy Lagoon Court in the Bloomingdale area.

Dec. 15: Someone ran over a mailbox on Riverside Drive in the Guyton area.

Dec. 15: A pickup truck was stolen from a residence on Kolic Helmey Road in the Guyton area.

Dec. 16: Deputies arrested a wanted person on Adelante Lane in the Guyton area. She faces charges of burglary and theft by receiving stolen property.

Dec. 16: A deputy stopped a vehicle for speeding and weaving on Sand Hill Road in the Guyton area. The driver was arrested for driving with a suspended license.

Dec. 16: Something damaged the windshield of a vehicle on U.S. 80 in the Bloomingdale area.

Dec. 16: A woman said she was threatened when trying to help a friend retrieve some belongings. Lazy Lagoon Court in the Bloomingdale area.

Dec. 16: Someone used the debit card of a woman who lives in the Guyton area, charging $345.

Dec. 16: A door on the equipment room at Sand Hill ball park was open.

Dec. 17: A deputy stopped a vehicle for going 70 mph in a 55 mph zone on Old Augusta Road S. The driver was arrested for driving with a suspended license and on Rincon warrants.

Dec. 17: A woman who was babysitting a girl while her father was at work said the girl’s mother tried to beat down the door. Sand Hill Road in the Guyton area.  

Dec. 17: A man who reportedly was drunk and high was arrested for battery on a young man who was staying with him at his residence on Little McCall Road in the Springfield area.

Dec. 18: A man wanted deputies to do a welfare check on his children to head off a threat by his ex-girlfriend to call them. Satinwood Drive in the Springfield area.

Dec. 18: A deputy stopped a vehicle for weaving and no insurance on Long Bridge Road in the Rincon area. The vehicle was towed and the driver cited for failure to maintain lane, driving without a license on person and no insurance.

Dec. 18: Two buildings and some wood piles burned at a sawmill on Old River Road in the Meldrim area.

Dec. 18: A deputy stopped a vehicle for weaving in the Springfield area. The driver was arrested for marijuana possession.

Dec. 19: A man who said he came home to find another man with his girlfriend was arrested for beating the man. He also was charged for drug possession. Zittrouer Road in the Guyton area.

Our car

Dec. 19: A woman said she loaned her daughter and son-in-law a vehicle but they haven’t returned it. They also blocked her on social media and changed their phone numbers. Midland Road in the Guyton area.

Dec. 19: A woman who lives in the Guyton area said her estranged husband came to her house to get his son’s phone and ran over her garbage cans on the way out. She has a restraining order against him.

Dec. 19: A resident of the Bloomingdale area said he was contacted about a bill for $1,200 that apparently was racked up using his stolen identity.

Boy bitten

Dec. 19: A woman surrendered her three dogs to the animal shelter because one of them bit her juvenile son, who was trying to break up a fight among them. Brandi Lane in the Guyton area.

Dec. 20: A living room fireplace mantle caught on fire in a house on Lorenzo Hurst Road in the Springfield area.

Accidental shooting

Dec. 20: A man who was cleaning his new Glock 9 mm gun shot himself in the thigh. Hyacinth Circle in the Guyton area.

Dec. 20: Two TVs and a video game system were missing from a house on Bluff Drive in the Eden area. The resident believes a specific couple took the items.

Dec. 21: Some people asked for legal advice on custodial matters for their 85-year-old mother. Kolic Helmey Road in the Guyton area.

Dec. 21: A deputy responded to a vehicle in a ditch on Low Ground Road in the Guyton area. The vehicle’s owner, who was drunk, said he let a friend borrow the vehicle.

Man found

Dec. 21: A man who was wanted on warrants was found at a house on Oak Drive in the Bloomingdale area, hiding under a pile of clothes. A woman who said the man had left was arrested for lying to deputies. The man had some drugs with him and was charged with a number of possession and distribution charges.

Dec. 21: A Springfield man who was trying to sell a set of wheels for $300 on craigslist received a couple of checks and was instructed to send the extra cash to another address. Workers at the place where he was going to buy a money order told him it was a scam before he sent the cash.

Dec. 21: Two men who had been riding dirt bikes in the Quail Run mobile home park were arrested. The charges included driving with a suspended license and off-road vehicles not allowed on a public road. Dove Lane in the Springfield area.

Dec. 21: A man knocked softly on the front door of a residence on Ga. 17 in the Springfield area. When the resident asked who was there, he ran into the back yard.

Dec. 21: A man who smelled of alcohol was walking on the shoulder of U.S. 80 at Pine View Drive in the Springfield area and was hard to see. He was arrested on a Bryan County warrant.

Dec. 21: While he was approaching U.S. 80 and Ga. 17 in the Bloomingdale area, a man said someone threw a rock at his truck’s windshield, shattering it.

Dec. 22: As a woman was driving on Ga. 30 near the Swamp Fox gas station, someone threw something that shattered her passenger side window and mirror.

Dec. 22: A bull dog ran from a house on Raccoon Drive in the Springfield area and fought with a dog that was being walked on a leash.  

Dec. 22: A woman who was behaving strangely at the Dollar General on Ga. 30 was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs and possession of drugs.

Dec. 22: A man was accused of showing his genitals to drivers as he walked on Noel C. Conaway Road in the Guyton area. He was arrested for criminal trespass for being on high school property.

Dec. 23: An Effingham deputy came upon a disabled vehicle on U.S. 80 in Bulloch County. He contacted the Bulloch Sheriff’s Office and Georgia State Patrol. The driver was arrested for drunken driving.

Bad judgment

Dec. 23: A driver with a suspended license who was driving a pickup truck and pulling a trailer pulled out in front of another vehicle and was struck at McCall Road and Blue Jay Road in the Rincon area. He was arrested for the license violation.

Dec. 23: A couple argued on Hickory Circle in the Springfield area.

Dec. 23: A man said he saw a pack of dogs kill a cat on Hidden Lake Drive in the Springfield area. The owner of the dogs was informed of the report and told to keep the animals on her property.

Dec. 23: A pickup truck belonging to a resident of Green Paddock Circle in the Guyton area had damage to its passenger side. The owner said he had only been to Wal-Mart and work.

Dec. 23: A man complained that his former lover’s husband pulled a gun on him. Whitehall Avenue in the Rincon area.

Dec. 23: A woman heard something hit her house and discovered window was broken. Hummingbird Lane in the Springfield area.

Dec. 23: A man yelled and cursed and asked where his estranged wife and children were because he had their Christmas presents. The woman arrived later and said she had a protective order to keep him away, but it didn’t show up in the computer and she didn’t have the copy with her.

Dec. 23: A resident of the Bloomingdale area said her estranged husband has been harassing her via text and voicemail.

Man caught

Dec. 24: A woman was smoking in her garage with the garage door slightly raised when she saw the lights come on in her vehicle and the alarm go off. She yelled at a man who was entering her vehicle and he ran away. Hyacinth Circle in the Guyton area.

Dec. 24: A deputy helped Springfield Police with a domestic call on S. Railroad Avenue. A woman said she was carrying a drunken man to the house, and they were not arguing. Deputies helped the man to a chair.

Dec. 24: A man was angry that a neighbor was shooting close to his house. Second Street in the Meldrim area.

Dec. 24: A woman in the Bloomingdale area who was having some emotional problems agreed to go to a hospital to be checked.

Wife disagrees

Dec. 24: A vehicle was in a ditch on Archer Road in the Guyton area. The driver, who smelled of alcohol, said another vehicle forced him off the road. He said he had been to dinner with his wife, but she said that wasn’t true. She said she went to church and she suspected he went to the Brass Rail. He was arrested for drunk driving and open container.

Dec. 24: A deputy stopped a vehicle for weaving on Ga. 21. The driver, from Greenville, S.C., was arrested for drunken driving-less safe and failure to maintain lane.

Dec. 24: A man said someone he’s repairing a utility trailer for took the trailer and some other things that don’t belong to him. He also won’t return a loaner trailer. Sir Arthur Court in the Guyton area.

Merry Christmas

Dec. 24: A woman said her aunt was leaving her boyfriend of four years and had been told she had until the end of the day to get her things. A deputy told the boyfriend that the woman lived there and had to be formally evicted and that he couldn’t damage her things. The boyfriend insisted she leave immediately and threatened to set the place on fire. Long Bridge Drive in the Rincon area.

No visit 

Dec. 24: A woman said her ex-boyfriend refused to give her their three children for Christmas. He said she hasn’t provided him with a permanent address and he doesn’t plan to give her the children. Reedsville Road in the Clyo area.

Dec. 24: A resident of Zettler Loop in the Guyton area said someone in a white SUV stole two letters with money orders from his mailbox, where they were waiting to be picked up, worth a total of $176.

Dinner dispute

Dec. 24: Deputies answered a call about a domestic dispute that left two juveniles alone in a house in the Springfield area. A 12-year-old said his father and his father’s girlfriend argued and left the house. The deputy got the father to return. He said his girlfriend didn’t want to go to dinner at his family’s house that night because she needed to stay home and cook for their dinner the next day.

Dec. 25: A deputy answered a call about a drunken man being rude to a woman and her granddaughter on Martha Drive in the Guyton area. The deputy gave the man a ride to Port Wentworth.

Dec. 25: Due to vandalism and thefts in the neighborhood, a deputy pulled over a vehicle that was driving slowly and turning its lights off and on at Meldrim Road at Withlacoochee Road. The driver was arrested for driving in violation of limited permit and tail light requirements.

Jenkins road rules

Dec. 25: A deputy had to swerve off the road to avoid a head-on collision with a van that was passing another vehicle on a curve on Ga. 17 at Marlow Road. The driver said it was OK for her to pass on a curve. She also said she works for the Jenkins County Sheriff’s Office in the jail.

A child was in the back seat, not in a car seat. The woman was given a couple of citations and her supervisor in Jenkins County was notified about the incident. A passenger was checked and found to be sober and was allowed to drive the vehicle.

Dec. 26: A deputy answered a call about a drunken man banging on a door on Oliver Kildare Road in the Newington area. They found the man in an SUV on the property, with the family dog. He was arrested for criminal trespass, possession of a controlled substance and Richmond County warrants.

Dec. 26: A woman said her drunken boyfriend refused to give her the keys to her vehicle. When she called 911, he gave her the keys and walked away. Dove Lane in the Springfield area.

Missing Viagra

Dec. 26: A resident of the Guyton area who is going through a divorce got mad when she went through her husband’s glove box and counted his Viagra pills and discovered that several were missing. She broke a mirror and tail light on his car with a baseball bat. She was arrested for criminal trespass-property damage.

Dec. 26: Someone fired a bullet in a large outdoor workshop, splattering paint all over. Rosehill Drive E. in the Rincon area.
