Due to the heavy rain and strong gusty winds from Hurricane Irma in Bryan County this morning residents are being urged to stay inside.
Emergency Services Director Freddy Howell there are numerous power outages and lots of trees down.
“(We) need people to stay off the road,” he said.
A post on the Richmond Hill Police Department’s Facebook page this morning said “As the tide rises through the day, the accumulated water combined with any storm surge will leave the rainwater nowhere to go and we may experience some flooding in the lower lying areas. Winds will continue to knock down tree limbs and trees may also be knocked over. Please stay off of the roadways as it is not safe to be out driving around. If you still have power, be sure to charge all of your electronics.”
Howell said he expected conditions to begin improve around noon.
