Wind and rain from Hurricane Irma are being felt in Bryan County this morning with heavy rain and strong, gusty winds.
In south Bryan County 3,399 combined Georgia Power and Coastal Electric customers are without electricity.
While the power is still on in Pembroke according to Public Safety Director William Collins, due to high winds the city’s emergency services are only to responding to life saving calls.
A Flash Flood Alert is in effect for Bryan County until 12:15 p.m. today.
Today’s continued forecast calls for bands of heavy rain containing strong gusty winds at times. Isolated tornadoes possible with a high of 79 F. Winds will be out of the ESE at 25 to 40 mph. The chance of rain 100 percent with 5 to 8 inches of rain expected.
Bryan County can expect cloudy and windy conditions this evening, becoming partly cloudy after midnight with a slight chance of a rain shower. Winds at 25 to 35 mph, decreasing to 10 to 15 mph.
