This afternoon Gov. Nathan Deal issued an executive order altering the emergency declaration for Chatham County changing parts of Chatham County that had previously been under a mandatory evacuation order to a voluntary evacuation order.
However the mandatory evacuation for Bryan County east of Interstate 95, the remainder of coastal Georgia east of I-95, and the eastern section of Chatham County remains in place.
Additionally due to the lack of traffic using contraflow on Interstate 16 the Georgia Department of Transportation will be removing contraflow operations by 4 p.m. today, returning normal traffic configurations for both east and westbound travel lanes.
Richmond Hill Mayor Harold Fowler said police would begin restricting traffic into the city east of I-95 at 6 p.m. Sunday.
