HIGH SCHOOLS: Football schedule hit hard by Irma

Irma’s impact will be felt through the end of the week as high school football games have been affected by the storm.

The Savannah-Chatham County Public School System has postponed all its games this week. Thursday’s game at Garden City Stadiumbetween Groves and Savannah High will be rescheduled on a date to be determined, as will Saturday’s matchup between Beach andWindsor Forest at Memorial Stadium.

New Hampstead’s game at Long County set for Friday has been postponed for a date to be determined.

The Islands game at Southeast Bulloch and the Jenkins/Johnson game at Memorial Stadium set for Friday each have been rescheduledfor Sept. 29. Savannah Country Day’s game scheduled for Friday at Johnson County has been rescheduled for Sept. 22.

Bryan County’s game scheduled for Friday against visiting Toombs County has been moved to Oct. 6.

Effingham County’s game with visiting Statesboro has been moved from Friday to Saturday, with kickoff set for 6 p.m.

Memorial Day’s game set for Friday at Garden City Stadium with Frederica has been canceled and will not be rescheduled.

School officials at Savannah Christian are considering moving the Raider game with Treutlen set for Friday at Pooler Stadium toSaturday, with a decision expected soon.

Calvary Day’s game with visiting Montgomery on Friday could also be moved to Saturday, with a decision expected soon.

St. Andrew’s game at Northwood set for Friday has been moved to Saturday at a time to be determined.

Bradwell is considering moving its game at Tattnall County from Friday to Saturday, with a decision coming soon.

Games that are still on for Friday as of Tuesday afternoon include Benedictine at Swainsboro; Richmond Hill at Grovetown and SouthEffingham at West Laurens.
